Kodaikanal Trip

My trip to Kodaikanal

My love for Kodaikanal travel begun when I went on an unexpected trip with my cousins to South India. We visited the places Munnar and Alleppey in Kerela and Madurai in Tamilnadu. That was the first time I went on a tour to some different state. Got to view a hill station, Boathouse and the amazing Madurai Meenakshi Temple.

I was amazed by the breathtaking view of the hill station, was in awe with the climate there and for some time couldn’t even believe that I actually visited those places (as I was an introvert, was having travel sickness, my parents were not with me and so many other things).

Despite all the odds, I was able to come back home after a whole long week trip with lots of memories

A trip to remember, Kodaikanal was the first place I visited with my crazy bunch of friends. So, Kodaikanal is a hill town in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is at a distance of 525km away from Chennai. If you guys are planning out for a trip to Kodaikanal from Chennai, here is my experience from the trip check out the below.

Chennai to Dindigul:

As a gang of 13 members, we started our journey from Chennai by a train (20601 MAS MDU AC EXP), which we boarded at around 10.30 PM and reached Dindigul around 6.30 AM from where we have already booked a tempo traveler.

As we started our journey from Dundigal, we were welcomed by this beautiful Rainbow amidst the hill with greenery all around. The weather was super amazing with the cool breezes hitting our face as it was drizzling.

We have reached our hotel by around 10, 10.30 as we have stopped in between to have a look at the beautiful Silver cascade falls.

The hotel we booked was more like an independent house with three rooms and a hall on the first floor and a restaurant on the ground floor. Since all of the three rooms were taken by us, it was like our own guest house.

Then we quickly got fresh up went on to have our brunch and start the site seeing.

Vattakanal Waterfalls:

We started off with the Vattakanal waterfalls, a bliss feeling when the cold water hit your feet. We did a bit trekking there to see the waterfall more closely.

Dolphin Nose and Echo Point:

And our next spots to visit were the Dolphin Nose and the Echo point. So, to reach these two places we need to go on a long trek, which seems easy while we go down, but is very hard to climb up all the rocky and rooty path.

We reached the Dolphin nose after a 2km trek and I must say that as soon as you reach the point, you will know that all the tiring trek you had was so worthy.

When you go a little ahead then comes the Echo Point which is another breathtaking view. After reaching the point with such chilling weather and an amazing view, life seemed so calm and peaceful.

These places get darker soon as you will see that suddenly the sky which was so clear will be clouded with fog. That is the reason no one is allowed after 5.30 PM to visit these places, as it gets darker very soon.

So, when planning a trip make sure you visit these places as soon as possible to enjoy the view.

After such a tiring day we reached our hotel had a bonfire ate and talked for so long playing games and having fun. That was really a fun night to remember.

As you know it is always fun when you have a crazy bunch of friends around with all the crazy stories. The day ended pretty well

Pine Forest and Kodaikanal lake:

The next day on we woke up early to have a look at the beautiful place. Such a view with a hot cup of tea and friends huh life seemed so sorted and happy.

We then packed and checked out the hotel at around 11 and went to have breakfast and visited the Pine forest, which is another beautiful place filled with Pine trees.

By, the time we reached there and looked around and took some pictures, it was time for lunch. Soon, after we finished our lunch we then went to Kodaikanal Lake for the boat.

Kodaikanal lake

This was the best best best part of our trip as we went on for boating we got to see the beautiful sunset with all those beautiful houses covered up with fog. Oh God! I can’t stop saying beautiful as the place was so scenic that anybody will just fall in love.

After the boating we went cycling around the lake, I tell you when cycling amidst the cold weather and the hills and the greenery, you feel yourself so relaxed that you will forget all your problems and worries.

You will find yourself enjoying though there is nothing much you are doing just cycling on the road with a constant smile and you can feel yourself filled up with happiness. Such a serene feeling it was…

That was the end of our trip as we boarded our bus and returned back to Chennai. This trip cost us all 4,500 each covering up travel expenses, accommodation food and other tickets we paid to visit places.

Expect for Boating and Cycling all the other places where free of cost to visit.I would advise more the people, the lesser the cost on each individual. Plan accordingly and enjoy guys

The one thing I learned from this trip is that we keep on worrying about the things happening in our life that we forget to appreciate what we have and how lucky we are, to get a chance to visit such a wonderful and amazing places.

Travelling does some kind of magic that though you have your daily life hustles, somewhere you can find yourself at peace when you think about the time you spent among nature.

This was my first travel story with friends… Can’t wait for another trip into nature’s lap. You can also visit my site for more posts. Soon I’ll be
